Barry is developing an independent planning app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It brings estimated pay and Universal Credit together across 12 assessment periods, helping people explore changing earnings, pay dates and household scenarios more clearly.

The Universal Credit Planner is currently in active development and testing. It is not yet available on the App Store.
The idea
See the year, not only one calculation.
Universal Credit is calculated in monthly assessment periods, while wages may arrive weekly, fortnightly, every four weeks or monthly. That timing can make one period look very different from the next.
The Planner shows estimated take-home pay and Universal Credit across 12 assessment periods. This can make events such as two four-weekly paydays falling into one assessment period easier to see and plan around.
A separate Quick UC Calculation supports one-off estimates without changing the information stored in a person’s ongoing Planner.

The project began with a practical problem: a single monthly estimate does not always show what will happen across a year of real pay dates and changing circumstances.
The app is being designed to calculate locally on the user’s device, present dated rule information and explain results in plain English. Accuracy for supported ordinary calculations is treated as part of the core product—not something to hide behind payment.
The aim is not merely to show an answer. It is to make the timing, assumptions and calculation easier to understand.
Still being developed
Care before release
Useful progress, with important testing still to do.
The project has automated calculation checks and reference cases, but broader independent testing, accessibility review, real-device acceptance and App Store preparation are still required.
- Coverage is still being extended for less common and exceptional circumstances.
- Self-employment and some deductions and transitional rules need further validation.
- Final purchase options and production services have not been decided.
- Public claims will remain measured until testing supports them.
