UC Planner

Limited iPhone testing programme

Help shape a simpler way to plan around Universal Credit.

UC Planner is an independent app being built to help people understand their Universal Credit estimate, see how work or household changes may affect it, and plan ahead with more confidence.

I’m looking for a small, varied group of iPhone users to try the beta version before public launch. Your experience will directly help me find what is unclear, what does not work properly, and what needs improving.

Apply to become a Founding Tester

No claim documents needed. You choose what you are comfortable testing.

Planning with clearer context

Explore how pay and life changes could affect Universal Credit.

UC Planner brings estimated pay and Universal Credit together across assessment periods, helping people explore timing, changing earnings and household scenarios.

It is an independent planning tool. Its results are estimates—not DWP decisions, benefit advice or a substitute for checking an official statement.

Real experience, broad perspectives

People willing to test thoughtfully—not technology experts.

01

Compatible iPhone

You will need an iPhone compatible with the current beta and be comfortable installing Apple TestFlight.

02

Relevant UC experience

Current or recent Universal Credit experience helps us test across real household, work, pay and housing patterns.

03

Honest observations

Useful feedback can be as simple as identifying a confusing sentence, inaccessible control or result that does not look right.

You never need to send a UC statement, payslip, claim reference, National Insurance number, bank details, address, employer name, children’s details or medical information to apply.

A practical thank-you for your time

Complete the initial journey and provide usable feedback to receive lifetime ad-free access.

If you complete the agreed initial tester journey and send one usable piece of feedback, you will receive lifetime ad-free access to UC Planner when it launches.

“Usable feedback” can be as simple as telling us what worked, what was unclear, or what appeared wrong. You are not expected to find a fault or send evidence, and this is not connected to leaving an App Store review.

The reward covers removal of advertising. It does not automatically include every future paid or Premium feature.

Why your help matters

Universal Credit circumstances are not all the same. A planner needs checking by people with different household situations, work patterns, paydays, housing costs and experiences of using apps. The programme helps make sure UC Planner works for more than one narrow set of circumstances.

Independent development

I want UC Planner to be genuinely useful.

I’m Barry Collins, and I’m building UC Planner independently through Organised & Co. I want it to be a genuinely useful planning tool—not something that hides the answer, asks people to understand technical language, or only works for a simple example.

The app is not connected to DWP or HMRC, and it cannot replace an official Universal Credit decision. But I believe it can make it easier to understand what may be happening and to plan ahead. Real feedback is the only way to make it clearer and more reliable before launch.

A small first mission

Try one realistic journey, then tell me what you noticed.

  1. Install Apple TestFlight and UC Planner.
  2. Complete the setup journey using circumstances you are comfortable testing.
  3. Generate an estimate and try one realistic “what if?” change in the Planner.
  4. Check the estimate yourself against your next UC statement when it arrives, if you are comfortable doing that.
  5. Complete one focused task matched to the broad area you said you could help with.
  6. Tell me what worked, what was confusing, or what appeared wrong.

UC Planner asks for the details needed to make its own estimate; it does not ask you to upload, photograph, paste in or store your official UC statement. Your statement stays separate. When it arrives, you read it yourself and compare it with the app’s estimate. If you modelled a past period, you may instead compare the estimate yourself with the matching historical statement. Both comparisons are optional, and the app does not receive or see the statement.

What to expect

A straightforward route from application to feedback.

TestFlight is Apple’s free app for trying pre-release versions of iPhone apps. It is a normal part of how developers test apps before they are publicly released.

StepWhat happens
1. ApplyTell us you are interested and the broad areas you may be able to help test.
2. InvitationIf selected, you receive an email invitation with clear next steps.
3. Install TestFlightDownload Apple’s free TestFlight app from the App Store, if you do not already have it.
4. Install UC PlannerOpen the invitation in TestFlight and install the beta app.
5. Try the missionUse the app in the way you normally would, then try the focused task we send you.
6. Send feedbackStart with a general description of what worked or appeared wrong. You choose whether to send a TestFlight comment or screenshot, or email a question.

Beta software can change and occasionally behave unexpectedly. You can stop testing at any time. TestFlight builds may also expire, but we will explain what to do if that happens. TestFlight invitations are sent individually to selected applicants, and applying does not guarantee a place.

Choose what you are comfortable sharing

Your official statement stays separate from the app.

UC Planner uses the details you enter to produce its own estimate. It does not ask you to upload, photograph, paste in or store your official UC statement. You read your statement separately and carry out any comparison yourself.

Sending feedback through TestFlight or email is a separate, deliberate choice. If you decide to report an apparent problem, begin with a general description. Claim references, National Insurance numbers, bank details, statements, payslips, addresses, employer or workplace names, children’s details, diagnoses, medical information and other documents are not required and should not be sent.

If you choose to send free text or a screenshot, there is a risk that personal information may be included accidentally despite this guidance. We aim to remove direct identifiers before using feedback with development tools, but cannot guarantee that every personal detail will be spotted. You do not need to send evidence to provide useful feedback or qualify for the tester benefit.

Read the Founding Tester privacy notice before applying

The separate Organised & Co privacy and cookie notice and UC Planner information, privacy and limitations also apply.

Different ways of using an iPhone matter

Accessibility experience is valuable, and disclosure is optional.

The application optionally asks whether you use features such as VoiceOver, Larger Text, Voice Control, zoom or colour and contrast adjustments. You do not need to give a diagnosis, and your answer will not determine whether you receive the programme benefit.

If the form itself creates a barrier, email app-feedback@organisedandco.com with the subject “Founding Tester application accessibility”. Please do not include financial, health or claim information.

Applications

Help us test with a wider range of real experiences.

Applications are open for a limited first wave of iPhone testers. Places are selected in small groups so that each tester can be supported properly.
